988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Updated: Oct 10, 2022
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (previously known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) is now active across the United States. The new, shorter 988 number provides 24/7 free and confidential support. The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in distress. The Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers with trained counselors to provide support to those in emotional distress or suicidal crisis and connect them to resources if needed. Call anytime you or someone you care about needs help.
